Unfortunately travel insurance does not cover ones baggage for more than £200 "per article" ! (on average)
I just want to insure my bike for a return flight against damage whilst in transit.
Anyone done this, ie is it possible?

You might be able to add worldwide cover if the bike is already on your home insurance - obviously check limits as the same problems might apply. My home M&S cover does this for a reasonable extra cost, never had to claim though.

If you pay me the value of your bikes and the maximum potential hire cost of replacing them with a suitable alternative i'll insure them for you.

So there you go - it is possible.
