Got a long weekend planned on the IoW in a couple of weeks. Will be taking the bikes for a day at the MTB centre, but I'll also be looking at doing a more leisurely route around the island. Has anyone got a GPX file I could follow please, or any other recommendations?

There are some good trails in Brighstone Forest. Have a look at Strava to see them.

There's a few different ones on here: https://www.lifeinthesaddle.cc/2019/09/mountain-bike-routes-isle-of-wight.html?m=1 might need komoot though.

Was on IoW in sept, stayed in Merstone and did a slightly adjusted version of number 2 on that list for a bit of a trundle on the hardtail. Nice route with some great views at the southern end of the loop. Riding isn't too challenging but good for a fair weather bimble.

Recommend the Tennyson Way (BOAT) which runs from Carisbrooke (nr Newport) to Freshwater Bay across the rolling downs of the south west part of the island. Your are either going up or down, not much flat! Its not far from the MTB centre. It also goes thru Brighstone Forest and there are other BW options for the return journey depending on where you are staying. Loads of bridleways on the island, get yourself an OS map and do some exploring, much more fun than just loading someone else's .GPX file into your Garmin. Remember "bad decisions make great stories", STW 2020.

My tip would be to stop at the Piano in Freshwater for lunch/cake.
