Looks like it's been clouted with something, hard. Like, someone's being doing some maintenance that has gone a bit wrong, got frustrated and angry, and clobbered it in a fit of rage.

It'll be fine. But if you are trying to justify a getting a new bike to the mrs, then no it is very dangerous

RB, Indeed it was, hit by a builders transit van, who then scarpered. The bike was on the back of a car on the way to Dalbeattie.......

looks like the 'crack' is just the paint may be okay, then again.......
