Just been reading the latest Mayhem press release and was a bit shocked to read the following
"After the success of the Olympics, particularly the beach volleyball we feel that the same kind of outfits should be adopted by our female riders. We feel that this move to bkini style riding outfits would greatly raise our media profile and bring in much needed sponsorship,we've already been approached by the pay per view chanel CHICKS ON BIKES with a view to filming some of the rougher downhills."
Now i'm not the most liberated of people but even to me this smacks of sexism. What's your thoughts on this disturbing news?

Turn on your irony feature, you should find it near the sense of humour switch and on the opposite side to the outrage button.

Sounds good to me?, all wearing bikini style outfits?...hell yeah!, might actually make trudging round a muddy field wondering what i'm doing here worthwhile but on one condition - no fat birds ok?, only a size 12 and under.

๐Ÿ˜‰

And in response to your original question, i'm not shocked/outraged whatever - there is "real" stuff out there happening right now that shocks and outrages me to the point that i would love to break a few jaws...politicians please form an orderly queue and you will be seen in due course, not some mass hand-wringing nail biting appeasement exercise such as this.

Damn right i'm sizeist,, have you seen me in barely there cycling lycra?, i'm the female equivalent of somewhere between a 12 and 14 and if i look a bloody mess and consider myself suitably disgusted when i catch sight in the mirror then think what the girls would look like?, all that flesh bouncing around and up n' down?......I'd be running around handing out towels and giant fleece lined onesies.

somewhere between a 12 and 14

that's probably an ideal size for a average height female isn't it, or not too far off.

Difficult to know because M&S keep changing their sizes to flatter, so whereas a 10 used to be skinny, it isn't now and might even be normally healthy. So maybe somewhere between 10 and 12 for an ideal.

Her on bike above is a bit unhealthily skinny methinks, unless she is an athlete.

ha ha somafunk - I am a size 12, sometimes a 10 but even if I starved myself down to a size 8 bits of me would still bounce whilst riding a bike in a bikini!

I think in the name of equality it should be for both sexes to wear bikinis - mayhay may be the word when the mud starts flying and the confusion sets in :-O

I'm up for it, but if i wore a bikini the actual body parts that would be bouncing around would not be solved by any amount of dieting or weight loss, perhaps a roll of duct tape would help keep things under control but i'd have to wax first...... ๐Ÿ˜• .......on second thoughts i've suddenly decided it's not one of my better ideas.

Anyone managing a night lap in a bikini at last year's MM would deserve a medal ๐Ÿ˜€

Interesting though, that we understand that the MM suggestion is obviously a joke yet the IOC can get away with virtually the same thing for Olympic beach volleyball and no one bats an eyelid.....

That sort of press release wouldn't be acceptable in business or education.
Why is it acceptable in sport ?

Surely the question should be why is having a laugh not acceptable in business and education?

Riding a bike for 24 hrs whilst totally knackered wouldn't be allowed either, what's your point?
