i have restarted riding again after a longish layoff about a month ago and due to the lovely but very hot weather i have been doing some nightriding both offroad and on (after midnight mostly which is great as no traffic and mild temps.
anyhoo i currently have a mid 2000's hope vision 2 led light that still works fine and does the job BUT always have hassle with strapping the battery to frame (it always ends up moving about).
hence looking at aformentioned diablo light.
i ride atm anywhere from 2 to 6 plus hours night riding and read the battery life can be from 1 to 24 hours.
i always use lowest light level on my hope and find it fine for me tbh so imagine the diablo will be a lot more oomph for similar runtimes.
for any one who has one how do you find it?
ta in advance 👍
I love mine, can't recommend highly enough if you ride enough to warrant the price tag.
The best bit is exposure customer service, they will repair any of their lights regardless of age for the cost of parts and post I don't think I've paid more than £14 A go.
They're always fast and friendly, the model of what all companies should be.
I have the Exposure Joystick and it's brilliant. Offroad I use it as a head torch, but it's great on the bars on the road. I also have a bar mounted MTB Batteries light. I prefer having two lights as the handlebars aren't always pointing where you need to be looking 😀
Edit: I can vouch for the customer service too. They swapped a charger that became a bit dodgy with no quibbles or cost.
Edit2: My battery is strapped on with this https://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/ACCEssORiES/luggage/VARBR161086001_Backcountry-Research-Mutherload-Strap Similar available from other manufacturers too
Thank you all, looks like I will be ordering one tomorrow then 👍
One wee thought, I have a mk14 joystick, and if pushed I'd pick it over my Diablo. Tighter spot makes for a better penetrating light IME, I tend to use Diablo on the bars now and Joyrider on the lid, Diablo is a wee bit floodier.
I've had several Diablo over the years, I think for sheer versatility and power and price, they can't be beaten.
Use on bars or helmet, the latest ones on high power are easily in excess of anything from 10 years ago and on low power they'll run all night.
I think my first Diablo was about 800 lumens on full. The latest one is double that!
Only thing to add - do NOT get the SYNC model, I've seen no end of issues with those about it not connecting, the app being dreadful and so on. The normal one with a button though - awesome bit of kit.
ah i will be getting the sync version.
i did order the standard one via amazon (1 left in stock it said).
once i ordered it i got an email back from the shop apologizing that they in fact didn't have any left (a mix up on the stock computer).
they straight away offered a refund or a sync version of the diablo for no extra cost,so i chose the sync version. would like to add have no issues with the shop at all (they were extremely prompt in replying and it was very kind of them to offer the sync no extra charge as they are more expensive).
i will wait and try out the light and hopefully it will be ok.
