Couldn't see a thread or anything saying so on BBC...

I know it's on Eurosport 2 live from 6:55, race start at 7.
The sports I've watched so far on the BBC seem to always have interruptions with other events coming in for a few mins or they go back to the presenting team for a while and waffle on about something uninteresting..

Who else is up and watching then?

Channel 601 on free view.

VDP massive crash and looks out!

Pidcock has gone very ballsy and aggressive off the start!

The drop where Mathieu van der Poel went down is full on. Nothing like a nice comfy rock slab to land on. And the course is nearly as dusty as Scotland right now.

Commentators said what I was just thinking... No dropper for VDP. Wonder whether that massive OTB might change his opinion on them!

Pidcock did well not to crash into vdP

Nino has not had amazing results this year yet but looks really racy now, has he been waiting for this? Or is he leading out for Fluckiger?

Find the sport on red button or iPlayer for uninterrupted viewing, rather than watching the BBC1 general feed. (They do keep saying this on the TV).

Come on Pidcock

Unmarked/stealth BMC with Suntour suspension.

Think it's a choice of the team rather than a sponsored ride, there was a YouTube about it at the start of the year as loads of the INEOS road team were trying to get their heads round the tech of MTB racing (no Pinnarello MTB option obviously!)

A few years ago, that course would have described as enduro! Looks incredibly technical.

He's not gonna sit back is he! Attack onto the front at half an hour gone. Confident! Don't blow up!

Course looks beautiful, but those rock gardens on an xc bike is giving me the cold sweats!

If it was wet this looks virtually unridable in places. I assume the rocks stay grippy but up those climbs in slippy mud would be runs.

So VDP has been off out the front door, Schurter has very nearly high-sided... One might assume this course is testing them!

boring XC......

arse puckering features at 195bpm for 90 mins flat out. Using lycra as padding.

(Been some good footage of Evie absolutely sending it in training too so she appears to like the tech too!)

Is it just me or has the co-commentator not done her homework? She seems a bit shocked at how well pidcock is doing 😀

good to have split the Swiss up, removes the chance of them double teaming him.

Yeah she’s been working with Katy Curd to prepare for the big drop. She looks amazing flying off that rock in the training fottage I’ve seen.

@theotherjonv yep I reckon it was supposed to be a team effort from Schurter and Fluckiger.

I don't think the commentator is fully up to date either - as much as I love him I think finally Nino is past his best this year. And on results only Pidcock is not THAT ground breaking in mtb yet, its just we've seen such potential

Rochelle Gilmore.
She's awful, but at least so far she's refrained from saying "xxxx is such a strong rider!"

@ahsat although the Women's field will be small, I am sure that on this course if she can hit all the a-lines and big drops it's gonna put Evie right at the sharp end of the field by default. I saw she'd been having coaching on jumps etc, time well spent!

That was quite a spectacular blow up from Schurter. Trying to keep up with Pidcock clearly took it’s toll. Commentator now asking if Pidcock can handle the pressure 🙄🙄

7 I think, plus the shorter start loop.

looks like a much bigger gap (11 seconds) after fluekciger came off. is it in the bag? It'd be hard to pull htat back mentally

The race has to be 80-100 minutes so they calculate based on the first 2-3 laps. Riders just prepare based on times.

It means that it's not constrained to a number of laps which could be weather dependent.

Fluekiger looks f*****! Even if he made up the gap it looks like Pidcock could attack again. Only a mechanical can stop Pidcock now. Shame about VDP, would have been a great race with Pidcock if he’d stayed on the bike.
