Ive tackled most things bike mechanic related on my bikes.. I service my own forks, even gave a shot at building my own wheels and Ive converted my Solo Lyrics to U-turn and all turned out OK.. but my ISX6 rear shock just looks to complicated and i don't have time to tackle it.. (or is it the patients)so been looking at getting it done by the professionals and it ain't bloody cheap..
so.. is it worth the money getting my rear shock professionally serviced ?? what do i get for my bucks ?? whats the pro. and cons. ???
The pros are that it comes back with a nice little TFTuned sticker on it which you can show off.
The main pro is that your expensive bike component keeps working, that's kinda the point of maintenance.
I was very impressed with the work that they did for me on an RP3. As said - cheaper to maintain than wait for the thing to fail and need more work.

in my opinion no, the advice they gave me was inaccurate and the work poor. I wouldn't use them again. There's a chap on here called loco, i've'looked on his website, the prices look reasonable and his advice has been spot on.
I've yet to use tf. mates use them for stuff like fox shocks but, i've never had any great problem doing home servicing on zochi and rockshox stuff.
Working on the likes of rebas/revs is pretty straight forward and there are plenty of how to guides on the world wide weird.

nothing like stating the obvious mate ๐
Ive found forks to be fairly strait forward to service.. but the instructions for the isx6 ain't the best.. setting it up was a head ache enough...
i suppose what I'm trying to find out is what are peoples real experiences with TF tuned.. and is it worth sending the shocks to them or go with a local LBS ??
craig1975, I've used TF for a number of years and they have always been very good and honest, and you get to chat to the guy doing the work if need be, had a rp23 pushed and a number of forks fixed and serviced all items always come back better than they went and the turn around can be very fast you could get something to them Tuesday and you'd have it back on by the weekend.
I've never been good at forks and shocks so have had to rely on them to do this bit of fettling.
I do my own oil and aircan services and that has kept my bikes rolling perfectly well over the years. might get them to look at my rear shock if I keep one for more than 3 years.
+1 1961Bikie & Forge197.
Sorted a few things for me over the years so a big thumbs up from me
all items always come back better than they went
Isn't that the whole point of getting any item serviced ?
Got a new pushed RP23 from them a month or so back. In addition to the pushed bit adding very little to the price, the level of communication and speed of servicing ,as well as the knowledge of the bloke I spoke to were brilliant.
A very far cry from getting spesh futureshocks dealt with by an LBS and spesh (slow) , and experiences I had with warrantee issues around a blown Monarch from an LBS and the UK importers (lost the shock, kept the fitting kit, couldn't find a replacement...).
Hey Craig, certainly seems like a complicated shock, think TF's a no brainer. Nice to see your getting the usual helpful replies on here as well ๐
YES
Absolutely - TF have made an amazing amount of difference to the stuff they have done for me. It's not until you get the shock back you really appreciate just how bad it had felt before.

Yes but quite often a car feels no different just a lighter wallet at least the forks and shocks come back noticably better so it feels like better value.
Got three pairs of rockshox forks between me and the missus, so just can't justify the price of getting them done by TF, could pretty much buy a new set of forks for the same price. Even the service kits are insanely expensive for a few o-rings and washers.
Standard stripping, cleaning and servicing I do myself, and the forks/shocks 'improve' just as much as the early days of using TFT for servicing.
I only use them for more specialist stuff - rear shock damping has 300psi in it - I don't have the kit to manage that, pushing shocks, re-sizing bushes, etc...
I'd say fork wise - try looking after them yourself - as you do. Shock wise it's always a toss up - is it worth a new one, depends on it's age etc...
I put up a post about sorting out some Pikes and as Neil 853 says Loco's advice was helpful. Here's his site http://www.locotuning.co.uk/ - bit cheaper than TFT and seems a helpful guy.
Tf have sorted my 36's (talas) in under a week. Stuff comes.back when they say it will advice.has always.been good and service brilliant
thanks all for the input.... i'm going to send it to TF Tuned ๐
Hi just, found this thread, as one of the other guys mentioned above have a look at my website for servicing and tuning options, any queries drop me a mail ๐
My money would go to LoCo, he is far more flexible in what he will do for you. I needed bushes and seals fitted to my Lyrik, but wanted to service the fork myself. TF will only do a full service.
I do my REBAs myself but the TALAS are a pain and they did a great job on them very professionally. Definitely worth the money. There is more to shock servicing than changing athe oil and a few O rings, maybe worth them looking at your forks every couple of services.
they certainly turn things around bloody rapidly.. I posted the shock to them yesterday. they got it mid day today.. serviced and back out to me for tomorrow.. thats a quick service ๐
I was pleased - they turned a leaky dog of an ebay RP23 into something that I can rely on and haven't had to do anything to (no air, nothing) for over a year.
