Just put a hole near the centreline of a brand new 29er Nano 2.1 which was on the back of my Longitude. I got a bit over enthusiastic (for me) going down a rough track. The split is about 8mm long. Are splits like this fixable, or is it time to chuck it? Although I put the tyre on myself originally with little difficulty, it proved impossible to remove in the field today to replace the innertube, resulting in a two mile trudge home. If the tyre isn't salveagable I might as well cut it off, it'll save me the hassle of wrecking all my tyre levers.
Looking for recommendations to replace it with - it's for bikepacking, bridleway stuff, nothing heroic. I want something that isn't a nightmare to remove and replace in the middle of nowhere (Alex MD23 rims, currently not set up tubeless but that may change).
cheers
No, it can be fixed quite easily with a tyre plug/mushroom and even if ran tubless, itll last the life of tbe tyre.
I got a couple from Kwik Fit, ebay also sell them (sorry for the long link)
