Not sure if it needs a couple more links out, but don't want to risk snapping the mech off[img][URL= http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww275/prawny_photos/Mobile%20Uploads/66249168-E852-45AB-9C70-894E3B9919CC.jp g" target="_blank">

I'd say yes, but worth letting air out of your shock to see how tight it gets as your bike goes through the rear travel first
Yes,let the air out and compress, re measure. Check the rear mech is the correct distance from the large ring once you've readjusted the chain length. B screw adjustment.
The reason I say it's too long is the rear mech should be pointing to 5 o'clock
Yes. There won't be much chain growth because it's a single pivot design with the pivot close to the BB (a concentric BB pivot would have zero chain growth, as on some full-sus DJ bikes that run single speed).
Is the mech able to take up all the slack and still provide some tension when in the smallest sprocket?
Cheers all, took 4 links out, doesn't appear to have much growth, and I reckon it'd still stand another link or two out. I'll give it a run out tomorrow and see how it goes.
Have a look at the Pinkbike Tech Tuesday page about chain length. It's quite good with pics to help.
Twas fine with the 4 links out, maybe still a bit slack, but should have enough in it for me to stick the 42t cassette on when I get round to sorting the chain line.
Here's what mine looks like with the shock fully compressed..working perfectly

Need to make sure the smallest sprocket doesn't have the derailleur resting on its stops, or the chain will flap about as the derailleur isn't under tension..at the same time making sure the chain is long enough to accommodate the largest sprocket without overloading the derailleur.
With the chain on the largest sprocket make sure the top jockey wheel has the chain going round it, if the chain runs straight on the jockey wheel to the lower jockey wheel it's to tight.
could always read and follow the instructions ๐
Thats a nice looking bike goldigger
