I am sat in my garden in Gloucester contemplating not going out for a ride as it is too hot.
My digital thermometer is showing a very nice 23 deg c and it is only 11am. So it will be a few deg c more later.
Am I just being GAY?
Too hot to ride???!!!!
23degs.
Nah, not even warm!
SB
Yes
Also, the sunburn from Afan yesterday isn't really helping my thought process as it wasn't this hot yesterday.
The temp at the start of last years 24/12 was pushing 28degs IIRC ๐ฏ
MTFU ๐
Oh and take lots of water, don't forget your suncream and cover the back of your neck ๐
No such thing as too hot for riding.
There is such a thing as not drinking enough water and salts though.
Just phoned a mate and we are going dirt jumping to avoid watching the dross that will be the FA Cup final.
And yes, I will MTFU.
Is it hot where you lot are?
Dimmadan one feels you are tring to start a GAY troll :D, i am not allowed out as i have the other halfs olds coming round
To circumvent this problem I went out at 6am today. Not that it is really a problem, put some suntan lotion and a hat on and MTFU sir!
id be careful if I were you... nobody has ever ridden a bike before in temperatures hotter than 23'c...
Do gay people not ride bikes when it's above 23 degrees C then? ๐
It's not hot here, it will only be about 22-25*. It's hot where my girlfriend is going tomorrow 43*
I would say it is the ideal weather for a beer garden today ๐
Since I have not been well the last couple of days neither option is open to me however ๐
No not at all and think I'll head out along the coast in a bit.
I'm OK up to 30 degrees if watered
i'm off to the beach later - 3-4ft and offshore....w00p!!!1
Suntan cream located and 4 litres of water bottled up ready for the park.
I stop at 40 degrees plus, unless its a proper race ie.in france etc.
its warm now not hot.
I'd go with anything up to mid 30's, but it's not the heat, it's the humidity.....
where are you riding edd i'm jealous i wish we had heat like that...
I live in Dubai so ride in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai is one of seven Emirates) and Oman. The photo from this morning is close to the top of Jebel Al Jais which is the UAE's highest peak at 1930m. A big climb but the descent was sweet.
One of the many problems with the heat at this time of year is that unless you're over 1000m altitude camping is not an option as it is far too hot.
It's 25 here in Moray at the moment. Made 30.5 yesterday. Imagine how we feel! We're just not used to it. It's not that long ago I was riding in temps of -14. It was 26 when I went for a ride last night. Very sweaty but lovely. If we can do it here in teh artic circle you need to MTFU!! I do pity the 10 under the benners though if it is as warm as it is here.
I've just got back from a ride on the Quantocks and it was 49.7C in our conservatory, because some numptie forgot to open the windows ๐
The hottest I have raced in was 58c, it was a 140km road race and to top it off I had just flown from Scotland in January where it had been -5c. I suffered like a polar bear in the Bahamas and got myself in to the winning break.
Evening all.
Usually around 38C here by 10.00am and then stays same till very late at night. Humidity of 80+ brings on a gentle sweat too...
That's Malaysia for you...
Off on a 40k jungle ride tomorrow with about 300+ others.
Nice and very hot but never too hot to ride...
Cheerio
Shiny
It's hot out there??
Not here on the north east coast it int. 14 degrees. 20mph wind off the sea.
Tis sunny tho.
22C and sunny here on Guernsey. There'll be a nice cooling breeze on the coast though.
Think I'll go for a ride around the coast!
It's stunning here (Mendip) today: 24d + cool breeze + duty uber fast trails.
27.5C in Afan @ 2pm when we got back to the cars - got through half a gallon of water in 26 miles!
Not to hot but factor 30 & lots of fluid esential.
8.5 hour ride today. Was something like 23 or perhaps a bit more for the last 6 hours or so. I drank about 4 litres of water.
I think I am a little bit sunburnt though.
Joe
Edd I've been up Jabel Hafleet outside Al Ain, is that the same area?
Crazy place and so typically UAE, hmm nice big hill, I know let's build a floodlit dual carriageway up it and a 4 star hotel at the top. Damn good road though, would loved to have had the bike.
Too hot to ride? If the tens of thousands of the English weekend BBQ firing, shirt loosing, skin burning, larger drinking (run round a stick-ing) can make it through the day then a few miles on two wheels cant be that bad can it?
Nice comment Jamie ๐
The hottest I have raced in was 58c,
According to the record books that would have been in Libya then, back in 1922. Your doing well old lad... ๐
Slight aside, lowest ever temp was -89c...!!!
We rode in 34C in Spain a few years ago - climbing was a tad difficult in that heat - like filling your lungs from a hair dryer everytime you took a breath!
amosridl - Not near Al Ain, I was riding on Jebel Al Jais in the most Northern Emirate - Ras Al Khaimah. Al Jais is the highest mountain in the UAE at just over 1,900m (Ben Nevis is 1,344m). You'll never guess what they're doing to it...
...yes that's right building a tourist resort on the top. At the moment they've got as far as building a track to the top but given the size of the road at the bottom it's going to be dual carrige-way to the top soon. Such a shame.
I've ridden up Jabel Hafeet, crazy fast coming down.
was out with some guys this morning in the local hills, 11.00am was already 37c. Climbing a 17% off road climb.
Quick shower... now off for some very chilled beers!
Warmest for me was in the dorgdone in 2003 heat wave 41 degrees tarmac was melting, so not just temperate
Went out in it today as gosh its hot. Cwmcarn was very hot. But 2 laps and a really good tan has made my day!
It's never too hot to ride. It can be too muddy, windy, wet, cold, icy or miserable (or any combination of) but *never* too hot.
Found the cure for my sunburnt shoulder today.... Hit a tree and remove the skin from it!! oh well!
