...clamp a bike in a bike stand by its dropper seat post?

Assuming of course that we're not going to scratch the slidy bit of the post with the clamp.

I'm just a bit concerned about the weight of the front end bending things, although the other half of me is saying there won't be anything like 13st+ pushing back on it.

Thoughts please.

Thanks

Old dishtowel around the shaft, clamp gently

Yes. Just don't go crazy when your tighten the clamp.

The SRAM Reverb service videos have them doing it.

Not by the slider/stanchion/shaft/whatever - they clamp at the base.

Yeah, when you fit ensure you leave enough hose to move the post up from frame to give you enough post to clamp on. DON'T CLAMP ONTO THE MOVING SHAFT!

lower the seat, then raise the seatpost in the frame so you have enough exposed seatpost to clamp.

This method means you don't have to run an extra long cable to the seat post just so you clamp the bike in a stand
