[#3916862]

When you have built your new frame up and it's basically ready to ride, do you still go online to check out that new totally not needed part to just make it that bit better ??

Edit: Just read your post properly. No I do not buy stuff just for the sake of it, but I am always looking for little geometry tweaks and things that make the bike handle better.

Yes addicted to tweaking ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm terrible as I always want to add another make of this or that to try it out and check for differences and see if I've found something worthwhile .

Yes, it is sometimes truly finished. When you reach that price/ performace tradeoff, and everything's properly colour-coded...

For me, anyway - YMMV!

as a lot of stuff on a bike wears out It would be pretty tricky for it not to be.

My bikes are pretty much finished.

I just need new Shimano Zee brakes and gears for one and some new wheels for the other. And maybe a dropper post each and the saddles could both do with replacing. The grips on the FS are a bit crap so should change them. I would like a new stem on the HT as the current one is way too chunky and doesn't look right on a steel frame.

Other than that they are fine.

Put it this way, my 2004 Enduro is only just finished as of last weekend, thanks to the Hope Minis I fitted. I am considering going for XT cranks to replace the SLX jobs once the chainrings die.

And I've today finished my '09 Wolf Ridge with the addition of a chain device.

Crazy thing I do is once i build a bike, I go and ride it. Don't know why I do that, I could be online looking at bike parts I already have...

I love it. The wife however, begrudges having to buy a new chain occasionally. All her upgrades are due to me. That was until today. She got jedi'd last weekend so has just bought a reverb! She also said "what the hell and ordered some xt shifters to go with it. I think finally, she has been bitten by the bug as well.

To use a spurious analogy - its like painting the Forth bridge

I've just entered the next circle of hell. I'm building a 24" bike for my daughter. It goes without saying that I've got completely carried away already. Another bloody project! With lots of boxes arriving in the post

Onza - Mrs O was also Jedi'd last year and promptly got a Reverb! And she's now checking online for those all-important colour-coded grips.....

Happy man here.

I've not made a significant change to my main bike for ages. The inevitable result of that was that I had to buy another bike.

I'm waiting on a BOS Vip'r to ship next week - when that arrives, I will have three bikes that I have changed every single part on at least once. I have them all exactly how I want them, and there's no justification for changing anything else on any of them.

I believe I have reached what is known as "new frame time".

"I love it. The wife however, begrudges having to buy a new chain occasionally"

dont i know it .....

just put a 600quid order in to rose bikes to sort out her bike after at 10pm last night she piped up "i think my brakes need looked at they make funny noises"

go to shed and find the springs actually in the disks and the pads worn to the metal..... the drive train barely works and the bikes dirtier than a dirty thing.

how ever at least she is using it !
