I've read 6 pages of this, and I'm confused. Should I like Brant or not?

We should like goats.

Brant: ...Will you please listen? I'm not the Messiah! Do you understand? Honestly!
Stwer: Only the true Messiah denies his divinity!
Brant: What? Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right, I am the Messiah!
Stw Crowd: He is! He is the Messiah!
Brant: Now, ...... go forth!....(ish).....
[Silence]
Stwer: How shall we .....go forth....(ish)...., oh Lord?
Brant: Oh, just go away! Leave me alone!

they only stay up there 'cos toys19 has slung a weight over the other side of the dam and tied the goat to it with very thin thread.

wwaswas - v good. I'm glad somebody read my goat story, as its true.

still dont get it

I predict that in about 18 months time a load of american Titus groupies ( and from what I can see they make the STW On-One/Ragley followers look fairly non-committal ) definitely not getting why the new Titus range are called the "Cashmere", the "Angora" and the "Toys19".

Not even after the explanation. In fact, particularly not after the explanation.

The "Toys19" will of course be the sort of bike you can ride through fences on and yet still pedal up dams without undue difficulty.

When he split to form Ragley, all the press releases felt very like On-One was a warm up, his new frames would be far better in all ways! I know he has to be like this somewhat, but it did strike me as fairly bad form.

If they need someone experienced to handle the Titus side it sounds like a top idea, as soon as Titus start suggesting hammering in headsets though I'm running.

I thought Ragley was effectively a Brant one-man-band creation which used Hotlines / CRC to flog the bikes. All this Shedfire working with Ragley stuff is basically Brant talking to himself in a mirror 🙂

It's like a lot of one man outfits who refer to themselves as "we" or "our consultants" when it's one man sitting in his underpants infront of a PC.

Brant has used the gnar of cadlerdale to shape brand and identify his products, the blue pig, mmmpop trails, even the name Ragley all hail from just over the hill.

For me the lad has vision and is attempting to do something specific that works where it has been designed, so hats off.

But how do you reverse from such a strong image, I wish him well and would buy a blue pig any day.

There has always been a strong image/ethos attached to the frame design for both main brands, which has met (or even created?) a demand , particularly in the UK.

As per the 'press release', the image is there already for all (3?) brands to continue and evolve rather than reverse. Should be interesting!

EDIT: by 3 brands I'm talking about PX, O-O and Titus of course

Well, so far, aye. But unless he owns the rights there's no reason that it couldn't continue under a different designer. Maybe one that draws prettier seatstays

Possibly but TBH I have no idea what the arrangements were/are.

the point I am making is brant has created a brand that is specific to a type of ride, shape, angle call it what you will.

The big brands don't do it on such a macro, viral level that feeds probably to a large proportion of the buyers.

Like I have said I love the look of the stuff and the fact that it has been "designed" or inspired less than 7 miles away more the better for me.

I like the fact it's been inspired by 'local' riding too but I also think it's been quite varied when you consider the movement through Inbred, Compo, Armadillo, Pompino, Scandal, Mmmmbop, Rodwell etc. etc.

Maybe Brant could fix all of On One's website links where you click through and the price listed (looks too be to be true) mysteriously goes up on the landing page.

Thats google but it also happens on their own website.

Today I clicked on some Rev ti and it came up

http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FORSREVRLTTI/rockshox-revelation-rlt-ti-dual-air-150mm-fork

I know when I've pointed this out in the past to bike retailers they've said 'oh thats google linking to an old price' but isn't google finding data still available/published on a retailers site?

Any web bods around?

Fairly sure it's not about creating bikes that only work in Calderdale. I'm pretty sure that he'd quite like them to work outside Calderdale too 🙂

Just to throw my totally pointless 2p in; I've never owned a Brant designed bike, quite liked the look of the Mega but didn't buy one as I needed a new frame before they were ready. He's been quite friendly online when I've tried to make contact so he seems like a nice bloke. In as much as I hope I'm happy when I change jobs, I hope the Titus thing works out for him too.

@hora - given that there's a different, lower price at the top of the page to what's at the bottom, I don't think it's Google at fault.

Yes Hora, that's exactly what I'm going to do - seeing as the website was in such great shape when I used to run it 🙂

I have emailed Jon who will have a look at it today.

Pushing my El Guapo up Blue Pig last night for another run down "Black Pig" I did comment to Sir James, my riding companion that maybe I ought to start doing some "normal" rides so I could see why people might want a 100mm travel XC 29er.

Calderdale influences me massively in the style of bikes, but I promise we're not going to slacken and lower everything.
