[Closed] Is 23mm too narrow? (Internal width rim)

I need a new wheel. Due to annoying changing 'standards' it's actually quite hard to find the right one. I've found a wheel that's going cheap (it's a bargain) but it has a 23mm inner diameter. Is that too narrow for 2020?

I ride XC on an enduro bike, don't race but try to ride fast. Current wheels are SRAM Rail 50 which I think are also 23mm. I'm old enough that I remember buying D521s and thinking they were really wide.

Depends on what tyres and pressures you are running

I don't think so...

All depends what width tyre you want to put in. 2.2-2.3 should be absolutely fine.

Cheers!
I.

It will be fine for ~2.25, my old Crests are 21mm I think and my son is riding those with 2.1" tyres. Just don't try to put a 2.6" in them.

23mm might be fine, but I'd go for something wider, 25mm is nice, which is what I run on my rigid mtb, and 30mm on the hardtail (with 2.35" tyres on).

I'm running 2.35 on 19.5mm inner width rims. It works fine, I would prefer a bit wider but 23mm should be ok.

I find 23mm is fine for XC type tyres. Currently got some 2.35 specialized (grid) on my XC HT no problems and run racing ralph's up to the same previously.

Hope Enduro rims are surprisingly narrow at 23mm. Mine were fine on 2.3 tyres for years on all sorts of terrain.

I've run 2.5s in D521s of various flavours over the years and they were rated up to 3.0, 23mm will be fine.

Yep, I'm running 2.35 Schwalbe HD on a 23mm internal Hope Enduro rim and it's fine.

Obvs wider would be better but if it's all you can get at the right price then it'll be fine.

23mm was fine for years until They realised They could sell us more upgrades with fancy pictures and paid-for content.

23mm is still fine.

Urgh, looks like it was a pricing error, the same wheel has now gone up £80. Back to the drawing board...

Check superstar, IIRC they still had cheap wheel in that width last time I checked.
