Is it just me or do people get annoyed when they look at an advert , for a car in this instance , and it says "first to see will buy " How do they know ? I always feel like going round , having a look and saying " no thanks , now go and rewrite your advert ." Also price on application , what's that all about ? If you want me to buy the thing tell me the price FFS . Poor rant I know but a genuine one .

first to see will buy

True. The only person who can say that, with any validity, is Derren Brown.

I always took that to mean if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

"Never Raced or Rallied"

Used to be used by sellers of Mk2 Escorts who'd mercilessly thrashed their car around a council estate for 3 years and now wanted shot as it was knackered.

I did put it on the ad for my Dad's 1943 Fire Engine recently, I have to confess.

I assumed it was tax dodgeing when applied to houses, e.g. sell the house for £1, as long as you buy something else that doesnt have capital gains tax for the remainder fo the price.

For cars though I agree, it's the opposite of 'open to sensible offers', more like 'make me an offer, and if it's already more than I want I'll ask for 10% more'

"Genuine Reason For Sale"

So you're not faking the fact that you want to sell it then?

Cheque, some sellers don't like cheques.

I have been looking on/off for a certain model. There has been a car at a main dealer in Lincoln that has had an advert on autotrader for 6 months. There is no picture. They can't be bothered to take a picture. What else cab't they be bothered to do? Every few weeks it goes down £100 on a 20K car. Wow!

+1

Almost everyone has a camera phone if they don't have a proper camera. And putting pictures on the internet really isn't difficult. For 15 minutes work max you make your sale so much more attractive.

Frame ads that don't give a size

Or this one - I'm guessing it's a frame only, but who knows?

"no timewasters"

Brilliant - you've just told me in two words all I need to know about you, your item for sale and your attitude if I need to contact you afterwards for some reason

I won't be wasting your time - good day
