[#3717605]

So I've been using an uzzi for a few months. dropouts have been set in the tallest setting (highest BB, steepest head angle) of 3 positions. I'm taking it to my 1st uplift day & decided to tweak it on saturday & switched it to the lowest setting (lower BB & slacker head angle). Oh it's an SLX mid length mech.
So here is the issue: the chain skips on the cassette under high load.

already considered the following issues:
1. Worn chain/sprockets - it's not that. its done <100miles from new
2. bent hanger - have you SEEN a G3 dropout???
3. shitty cable adjustment - I replaced the cable inner & outer yesterday just incase.

I'm left with:
4. bent mech? (but the issue started in the carpark right after I moved the G3)
5. poorly set up mech?
6. the G3 unwraps the chain from the cassette as you adjust it back. this means only about half the teeth on the cassette have chain on them at a time, rather than 2/3rd of them on my hardtail.

Anything else you can think of - would some pics help?

Did you re adjust the b tension screw when you moved the dropouts? sounds like its just a badly set up rear mech. might be worth another look ๐Ÿ™‚

I have an Uzzi too and swap around between the steep and the mid setting quite a bit (low is too low if you have normal 175mm cranks IMO).

Never had any issues. I would suspect your cable routing or mech setup - is the outer a bit tight?

G3 hangers are easy enough to bend - you just have to ****t them hard enough. The nice thing is they're man enough to be bent back without snapping straight off. However unless you know you've dropped the bike hard on that side, I would discount it. If it's an SLX shadow mech, that will bend first I would think.

Is it one gear it's slipping in or all gears?

Have you got the shims in between the frame and the dropout correctly?

(and egg-sucking content - you have got both dropouts on the same setting, haven't you....?)

Cruzer: B Tension? That would be a no then - I'll look at that. edit: it's ok now ๐Ÿ˜€
JonEdwards: Outer was a little tight, but not so much it would be an issue. I've replaced it now an added 20mm in the process.
It was the middle to 11t of the cassette which was worst. Granny was mostly ok.

re shims: they are fitted as per when the bike arrived with me. I didn't have it from new so I presumed thats where they should be. between the G3 and the wheel side of the frame.
Where do you have your fitted?

Eggsucking - yeah, that bit is OK. LOL Would the wheel even fit if the G3 were misaligned? Don't tell me you've done it ๐Ÿ˜€

My shims are between the outside of the frame and the G3, but so long as it's been consistent, I don't see that being an issue
