About to upgrade my forks. What would be peoples choice of either intend hero, or ohlins ref 36?
I went Hero (140mm), based on my experience with a 150mm Edge. Waiting for the frame they’re being fitted to to arrive though, so not ridden them yet.
I've never ridden an Intend but I bought my RXF36 from J-Tech with their custom tuning and it's comfortably the best fork I've ever ridden.
When my 38 is due for a full service it's going to J-Tech for the same treatment.
I've got an *ntend Flash 38 that replaced my Fox Factory 38. Night and day difference.
Not sure if go for the hero, but if happily consider the edge.
Thanks for the opinions, will probably be going with the intend. Now just to decide which ones.
I switched my Flash 38 to the +15mm volume cap yesterday and it's even better than it was before. You'll not be disappointed, I'm sure.
We need some detailed owners reports from all the Intend riders.
There's not many actual reviews out there.
I'd like to try one eventually, especially a dual crown.
Well, my Flash 38 compared to my Fox Factory 38, noticeable increase in chassis stiffness under braking, no noticeable chatter due to legs flexing fore and aft but no noticeable issues with tracking.
Fork is super supple and doesn't bind/slip when getting deeper into the travel.
I could never get the Fox compression damping to feel good, wherever I set it, it felt harsh whereas the Intend feels supportive. I'm about ⅓ of the range open from fully closed.
Conformation bias? Maybe, they were bloody expensive but I'm happy with the change.
Downsides? I take the front wheel out to transport the bike. Getting two independently moving legs to line up so I can get the axle in can be a pain but it improves with practice.
Honestly, I bought the Intend for the chassis. I was expecting to need to do something with the damper. I've heard of people fitting Avalanche cartridges of Mezzer dampers in there but i think the damper beats the stuff from Rockshox and Fox. You do select your ride weight to within 5kg when you order the fork so they are semi tuned for the rider from new.
