I was interested in this design of an integral seat clamp on the the new Lappierre DH bike.

What's the advantage over a separate seat clamp and will we be seeing these more on trail bikes in the future?

Looks better and no slot for crap to get in?

doesn't rely on deforming the top of the seat tube either so in theory less stress

but it looks so much neater, has been a big thing in bmx over the last few years so mtb is catching on

Neatness, in theory more crap can get in as the top isn't sealed surely?

I do prefer welded/brazed on seatclamp bolts though, such a neater solution than collars why did we ever change?

I assume there is some sort of internal collar in the seat tube so that when you tighten the bolt, the collar grabs the seatpost?

My old Pace used to have a separate cinch bolt collar that bolted onto the frame, with an o-ring seal between the two to stop crud getting in. I wish I still had that bike ๐Ÿ™
