I'm off to the US this summer for about 4 weeks to train and hopefully ride a few local crits, but have realised i'm totally clueless about what type of insurance I need. I have a british cycling race silver membership, but it seems like this doesn't necessarily cover me in the US, and doesn't give me liablility insurance either.
Any advice on what type of insurance i'll need and which organisations are worth going through would be greatly appreiciated!

Expect to have to bend over to cover that trip. USA + 4weeks + racing won’t be pretty!
I cycled in the states years ago on a long tour. We had to go direct to a specialist insurer and even then it had loads of exclusions, it was expensive too...but look at the risk they are taking on.
Make sure you have decent medical insurance.
I dislocated a finger in Utah over 10 years ago which needed an op to reseat and the bill was >$10k

it seems like general travel and health insurance plus yellow jersey should cover it. Shame British cycling's included insurance doesn't cover such a trib but as @poolman says, the risk isn't small...
