Who is best to look at for quotes.
Approximate replacement value is £6000 for 3 bikes.
Stored in a well locked and very sturdy shed, and all locked (together) within the shed.
Where should I be looking, I’ve never bothered before as I’ve never really had this sort of value to worry about.
My normal house insurance with the Halifax covers me as long as the bikes are on my property or immediately outside.
Same as Rockhopper, but with Nationwide.
Comes under possessions, up to £5000 per item.
Did a quote with Halifax and it asks for bikes to be listed as individual items.
Quote was £300 ish for the year.
Did you list your bikes or are they just covered as “contents” in general.
Lloyd's cover mine in a locked wooden summerhouse.
Their renewal has just come through, however, and purely based on the gall of that, I wouldn't recommend them!
Asked the Insurance company about where the bike can be stored without compromising the insurance and was tole that as long as reasonable measures have been taken and it was locked up, that'd cover it. Didn't even specify a type or minimum grade lock/chain.
That was with M&S.
Lloyds (bank) do 40% off first year - if you're coming around to renewal then your premium has probably just gone nuts.
I expect to be leaving them next year. 😉
My AA insurance covers outbuildings, up to £6 or £7k in total I think.
It’s one of those things where if you have a household policy it’s worth looking but pay particular attention to the terms. Home contents doesn’t suit everyone though
I’m insuring around £8.5k in a brick shed with Bikmo and I’m happy. They’re unconcerned about self builds without full receipts (photos are accepted as evidence) and don’t actually stipulate any locks inside the shed at all so long as it’s locked. I double checked the ‘shed door’ as this obviously compromises a brick building but they’re happy. Insurance covers lots of other cycle related stuff including transit, crashes, event fees, kit etc.
