Ok im off the beer and i can't sleep.So when i used to kite surf i went on trips to Tarifa and Tenerife,both the spiritual homes of kites in Europe .I also went to Asia then moved to Ireland for those Gnarly (and cold waves)I went to Brasil to legendary spot that is Cumbucco and stayed for months.So then i got married and then....? Now a couple of years after a kiting accident i got back into MTb ,i tried some sportives and an off road endurance ,a off road triathalon and competition aint for me ,im a soul biker- so im 40 next year and i got a pass for a trip so where?
Abroad=Alps
Home=Scotland
Alps are huge...big trails,amazing vistas
Scotland,narly and great views....almost forgot the nasty midges ๐
They would be my two Penneth worth of choices.
The beauty of the kite trips were they always went on longer than planned due to there distance and non connectivity? to uk (hell i came back from Asia married) i guess ive just answered my own question.
based on your surfing trips being to really iconic places, and as you suggest this will be a once in a blue moon (if not quite once in a lifetime) experience - then surely you need a road trip to the MTB'ing mecca's of Moab, Colorado, MtTam and so on.
How long have you got? How about flying into San Francisco then going up the West Coast of the USA visiting Moab and finishing in Whistler. Should cover the birth of MTB to the modern era.
At least that's something I'd like to do
