[#4246281]

Recently visited Afan and had 3 punctures in one day.
I was running Nobby Nics 2.25 Evos with cheap inner tubes from CR, 40psi.
I normally ride xc and these work fine, but I will be visiting Wales again soon.
Should I change to DH inner tubes or run higher pressure at trail centres?
Any recommendations of tubes and pressure much appreciated.
I don't want to run tubeless at the moment.

I rode at Afan with 2.1 Nobby Nics and light 120g Schwalbe tubes without puncturing so assume you must have been unlucky.

Were they pinch flats?

Yeah they were pinch flats, never seen so many rocks going past so fast. Amazing fun:)

Sounds like it could be a pressure thing. I ran NN/RR combo for about 6 months (tubeless). Light and fast for sure but fragile. I would find the sealant seeping out of little spots on the tyres so wonder how many punctures I would have had to deal with.

I ran my front NN at rather low pressures but never had a pinch...saying that I was very aware on the rocky stuff, fully expected to get one but never happened. Maybe that is a tubeless thing? I don't know.

Tubeless all the way buddy, might be a pain to set up initially but not stopped for a puncture in at least 2 years. And that is worth it to me!

Now ditched the Schwalbe combo for Maxxis...but that was a grip related issue!
