[#2443693]

just got some XT levers, bled them & theres pretty much no lever pull at all. How do you increase the lever pull.
the freestroke screw doesn't seem to have much effect, or will it take time to adjust itself? or should i bleed them with the screw nearly fully out?
right now they feel super tight & I like to run them with lots of lever travel

Cheers
Ed

are they new pads? if so then they will wear down and feel different over time

back off everthing....put a cd between yours pads and pull lever to bring the pads in, undo the caliper bolts put the disc back in reset the caliper and then check the resovouir it may need filling up

job done

surely that would make them even tighter? increasing the amount of oil in the system!

ooops sorry i must of read it wrong.........thats with the wife pestering me....

i'd just pull the lever in a bit with the big ugly nut on the end, you should still get loads of modulation even when tight though

maybe try pushing the pads apart?

At a rough guess you bled them without inserting the spacer into the caliper so you ended up overfilling them, the pistons can't retract enough to allow any lever pull. Try expelling some of the fluid from the caliper bleed nipple, a couple of centimetres in the tubing should make a ig difference at the lever.

Sorry slight hijack here I think I have the problem that Trailmoggy could help with but cannot understand what he is saying!! 😳
I have too much lever pull before the pads bite but again the lever reach adjust makes no difference....

you need to push the pads further together.... back off all adjustments, take out the rear wheel and put a cd inbetween the pads and then press the lever a few times untill it bites, then loosen the caliper bolts, put the rear wheel back in pull the lever and tighten the bolts as you would in the first setup, you may then need to put a it more fluid in the resoviour and put an elasic band around you lever to depress it and leave overnight, check your fluid levels again, when you try it next time your brakes should bite sooner and feel solid. then you can start adjusting everything

this is what i do t my XT nd SLX brakes........if i'm not expaining this well enough mail me.
