Anyone toured on an inbred? - thinking with panniers across France

Also want to swap these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eXotic-29er-Rigid-Carbon-MTB-Bike-Fork-Disc-Specific_W0QQitemZ200577848818QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=214534844718&rvr_id=214534844718&cguid=eee105d111d0a0e202e4d6a4fdfaa9f5

for the revelations I already have - to raise the front a bit a la revelations but lighter

Any views on this?

Many thanks

Plum

I rode mine from London to Paris a few years back over three days and it was perfect.
Its kitted out with some nice Surly 1x1 forks with the steerer left uncut and some Mary bars to give me a more relaxed ridng posistion.

Yep really for road only or towpaths with slicks

Mary bars is an interesting idea, no good for mountain biking when I tried them but might be good for road use

Good stuff

I have just given my defunct summer season frame to P Austin as he's set it up as a tourer. Looks kinda weird tho.

29er, was good with Midge bars up the Outer Hebrides. Slot dropout makes the rack fit nicely.

I did it,, I found with enough stuff on the back I could manual using the brake to keep me up..

[img] [/img]

The wibbling out of the saddle due to the weight on the back took a bit of getting used to other wise it was fine..

(edit) yup, any kind of bumps or rough terrain was a bit mad though..

Everything, camping and cooking and clothes for November - December in Spain, wouldn't have liked to have anything less to be honest.. rode from my old work at Sierra Cycling to the Cabo de San Vincente (the westerly most point of mainland Europe),, it was quite nice really.

I have mary bars on my commuter. They are much better on the road than off IMO. Plenty of variations in hand position for climbing/cruising when I go a bit further.

Yep- used my Inbred 29er when I toured Thailand, and currently planning a few little trips whilst I'm in Ethiopia. Currently using it every day to commute to college.

And then a big trip from Istanbul to London next year.

In Bangkok...

Here's one of my faves from our Reader's Rides section, the second photo always makes me chuckle given the amount of gear on the bike!
