I bought the inbred (2years ago) cause I was curious about hardtails (I've only had my orignal oversized 1st HT/mtb otherwise) and have enjoyed owning it*, but a m8 bought a Trek 8000 and the weight difference is quite startling...

So was wondering about replacing the inbred frame with a scandal, 'tis cheap and 1.5lbs lighter, but they 'only' come in the cheaper ali now instead (supposedly) 'better' stuff the early models came in. Any thoughts, good idea, waste of time?

(* not enough to even consider giving up my FS bikes though)

The scandal I tried tbh, felt just like a D76 Inbred to me, but then again I am no expert.

It certainly did not feel harsh like some other Ali frames in the past that I have owned, if that's what you are worried about.

definitely a major part of my worry, my orignial ali frame beat the crap out of me, hense when I tried another HT is was a steel one..

Comfort wise my Scandal compares favorably with my old Cotic Soul, for an alu frame it is very compliant. I should add that the scandal replaced a steel Love / Hate which quite frankly tore me a new ahole when I rode it.

Yep, I agree with that, I had a Scandal briefly and it certainly wasn't harsh or especially stiff. Never ridden a standard Inbred mind but it's no backbreaker.

Got both a scandal and a steel inbred in 29er flavour and they ride pretty much the same. Scandal frame is for sale though, the Ti29er deal on at the moment was just too tempting..

I found my scandal to be miles more compliant than my old DN6 inbred - it was a bigger frame though (21" 29er as opposed to 20" Inbred) as I understand it was specifically designed to give a bit more a long the top tube for comfort than the inbred was originally designed as.

Pity it's a 29er for sale, not quite ready to experiment with them
