I have an old Inbred, around 2008, and need a chianset, what is BB30 and will it fit my bike?

No. BB30 is a new fangled press fit thing i know nothing about.
Whats your budget and are you running 9 speed/10?

Get on Merlin etc and get yourself an LX or Deore one for approx £50 with new bottom bracket.

I was going xt (140£) but have found an fsa afterburner reduced from 260 to 100 and was thinking that might be better:

FSA Afterburner 10sp Triple MTB Crankset

Hollow forged alloy arms.
Low Speed extruded AL7050 BB30 spindle.
AL7075 100% CNC machine outer chainring.
AL7075 stamped middle and inner chainring.
Chromoly chainring bolts.

You want a conventional threaded one. You would do well to find a HT11 Shimano type.

Unless you need/want 10 speed, just get the LX one from Merlin as mentioned above. I just put one on my sons bike, sorted.

Thanks all, saved from a waste of money there..... Merlin is the place to get one from looking at prices...
So Sram x5 with gxp BB for £52 reduced from 135
Or Shimano SLX for 92 reduced from 154?
or just bite the bullet and go xt for 140?

I believe there is 40gm difference between SLX and XT. I wouldn't bother with the Sram as it's a faff to get right the Shimano's are far easier!
So choose between the shimano's (imo SLX )

Had a couple of truativ/sram gxp bb's, first came on bike and broke quickly, replacement not much better. I've found them very poor compared to Shimano's which last loads more miles for me. I'd recommend Shimano SLX.

I'd happily buy a Deore HT2 again. Bit misleading though, as technically it's not actually hollow. 😕
Can't recall it being any more than the weight of a dense fart over the 770 XT's.
