Just seen a new event being launched somehwere I used to ride.

7 special stages in 30km for £35

Some are climbs

Some are skills tests

Some "undulate" or "traverse"

So out of 7 stages theres proabaly 4 decents?

The hill is 50m verticaly top to bottom!

Not wanting to knock someone elses hard work but that's not exactly fitting the event's name.

Gravity - implies theres an apreciable climb/decent involved (gravitational potential energy being =ghm, where youve fixed g and m obvioulsy)
Super - implies there should be a Super amounnt of 'gravity' and 'enduro'
Enduro - endurance? 30km? ehhhh? I've done longer commutes!

£35 to do what most people would class as a moderately testing weekday night ride, in the daylight? And queing for the decents?

There was a article in cycling plus this month about how expensive sportives have become, with some events giving little more than a scabby t-shirt, sachet of shower gell and and energy bar for your £60 where on the continent you'd be getting a proper jersey and a 3 course meal for that outlay!

I'm all for new types of racing and more people getting involved, but seriosuly, £35 for 30km? It barely justified the petrol when I lived 5 miles away!

I always thought 'Enduro' was an extremely misleading name, since MTB Enduros are very rarely feats of endurance. I always thought 'Rally' would be a more appropriate name.

Enduro is the motorcycle worlds name for a (car style) rally. Timed special stages with long rides between them.

BUSA DH race on the IoW (circa 200?) was the spectactularly inappropriate location I've ever seen (the thing preventing you seeing the finish from the start would have simply been the curvature of the earth it was so flat, rather than vertical drop in altitude..... if it had actually been long enough.... which it wasn't)

Pedalhounds DH races at Longmoor. You had the climby bit, followed by the bumpy flat bit and finished with the plop into the car park.
