Shimano gear cable outer end caps.
I can't find anywhere (or remember if I've been told before) if there is any significant difference between the various types. I know there are some specific indications for the tongued ones but what (if any) is the difference between the plastic ones with two grooves and the ones with four grooves. Pictures attached for clarity. Possibly.

The ones with 4 bands on them have some little o-rings in to help seal the cable entry and keep things running smoothly for longer. Given the choice I always figure they are worth having if you can find them.
What does it say about a poster when they put their whole thread title in brackets? 🙂

I hot glue mine on. Easy to remove n reuse. God, I'm cheap, having just reread that.
