[Closed] If it's good enough for Vin Cox.....

Just about to head out for a ride on my Alfine equipped bike and have just read that Vin Cox used the same hub on his record breaking trip around the world, with no reported problems. Yes, it doesn't have the same range as a Rohloff but it obviously sufficed for his trip.

Considering you can pick up the 8 speed for around £150 and Rohloff's are on average a £1000, with an increasing list of failures and silly add ons like 4 bolt disc rotors, it's a no brainer really.

I was contemplating buying a Rohloff hub but always struggled with the cost.
Even the new 11 speed with oil bath lubrication and consequently easier maintenance, shouldn't cost more than £440 all in. I'm sure a few searches will reveal better prices as well.
