Identify my SRAM rear mech

This GX rear mech came on a 2nd hand bike I bought. I'm not really up on SRAM drivetrains. It's happily working with a 12spd 10-50 cassette but I don't 'think' it's 12spd.

Reason I ask is either the clutch is broken or turned off (if that's a thing). If I knew which version of a GX mech this was I could identify if it's just not got one. I'd be surprised as I thought half decent mechs had had clutches for quite a while and as it's managing to shift a 12spd 10-50 it can't be that old.

The clutch does not turn off.

You can just lock it off manually with the pin but you would notice it.

Looks to be the older 11 speed GX mech (pre type 2.1 clutch)

The clutch is non adjustable and wears over time, its contained in the bolt just below the GX sign

There might be a serial number on the back of the cage - type that into the SRAM website.

Think it's a standard 12speed gx mech. The 11 speed ones have '11' on them in place of the eagle logo.

Don't the 12sp have a larger lower jockey wheel ?

I guess hunting for a serial number would make sense.

Follow up question - assuming this one is booked - are recent 12 SRAM clutches any good, or would I be better just buying Shimano (and a shifter).

It's a fat bike and sometimes gets used on beaches (although mostly buzzing around the local singletrack and rides into the hills) which is more that a little tough on drivetrain components. On a recent beach ride this bikes drivetrain became a skipping mess in short order whilst the other bike on the trip with 11spd Deore was fine, so I suspect there's a fair bit of wear that needs sorting apart from the clutch.

It’s an GX Eagle mech clearly shown by the logo, which is only available in 12 speed.  SRAM eagle mechs don’t have a clutch on/off lever like a Shimano mech, but do have a little catch button to place the cage forward to allow easy removal of the wheel.

Ah, that splodge below 'Sram' is meant to be an eagle - I can see it now!

Does not look like the 12spd gx eagle mechs sold currently (with a clutch switch) so I'm assuming they have been through at least two generations of 12spd eagle mechs.

Regardless, if you can't turn it off, this one no longer has a functioning clutch so I guess unless it can be fettled back to life it's either suck it up as is or buy a new one.

Looks like the slightly older 10-50 version not the new 10-52.

The newer generation (Lunar, which will take a 52T cog and has a slightly different finish) ones don’t have a clutch switch either.  I have had both mechs.

None of the eagle mechs have a clutch off switch. Only Shimano do. I’d agree that’s the older style GX Eagle 12 speed mech.
