[#3521044]

We've got some trails developing nicely of a XC and DH nature on some land where we have land owner permission. In fact, other than having slightly better soil type we couldn't have it so good.

Our biggest problem is getting people to come and dig. It has been a core of about 3 people in the last 18months who have been leading the digs. A number of people have joined us but recently the numbers have been dwindling and while the ground is wet we're keen to take advantage.

I know, its not every bikers idea of a great day out but it can be very rewarding seeing things develop.

What would tempt you out to dig? Any ideas?

Money.

If that's not an option, can't you use a mix of peer pressure and guilt, and maybe a pint?

Where are they? If it's local enough I'll be there.

Advertise dig days (BBQs good) on Tinternet and posters in carparks / trailheads, get local bike shops involved and ask them to donate food / PPE / raffle prizes.

Issue 'Access All Areas' permits to the diggers, just like at Cannock

Its Cheltenham. Got access to about 100acres of woodland on one of the hills. Vertical drop is about 90m.

Problem we have with no dig / no ride is this time of year the ground is too wet to get any decent riding in, plus there aren't a great number of trails to ride so its a bit chicken and egg. Once we have the people digging the more trails there will be but when it gets to spring the ground gets damn hard and you can't dig.

We have about 100 people signed up on the facebook page and about 100 MTBers in the club but seeems no one is that interested to dig, but once the trails are there I bet people will ride them.

rainy days are good for building. if it's too crappy to ride but you still want to get outdoors it's the ideal thing to do. sell that side of it.
also try and get one trail that rides, to get people up there, then you can bend their ears more easily.

now, RealMan, need to talk to you about some shovels and folding saws...

Just tell the police that you've heard screams and seen car headlights in the middle of the night. It worked a dream on our veg plot and that nice Mr West next door had them round for weeks ๐Ÿ˜‰

read the title as dogging, not digging.

*leaves thread disappointed*

make you did days regular and try to avoid them clashing with other regular rides?
