This thing is amazing, shame it's so expensive.

That inventor fulfils the stereotype - complete nutter and eccentric. Brilliant.

does it have a battery?
they imply is uses energy from pedalling to power it...
is it just not energy from pedalling to "make it go" (rather than having an accelerator)

in which case, its just an electric bike with a bigger motor.
if it uses only power from the crank to make it go..... no, thats impossible, energy isnt free....

The energy from pedalling makes it go, you answered your own question there.

To be honest, I think he was just German.

Ok, well pedalling does both. It Must have a very efficient alternator in there.

Charging
Connection: AC 220V (50-60 Hz)
Charging time: 3 to 4 hours
Motor
Type: DC permanent magnet motor
Power: 8 kW
Torque: 75 Nm
Batteries
Type: Lithium-Ion Nanophosphate
Capacity: 2,9 kWh
Lifespan: approx. 1.000 charge cycles (8 to 10 years)

The rotational movement of the crank assembly engages a permanent magnet generator that has a double role: It sends signals
to the control electronics and recuperates the energy produced through peddling. This energy is then used for recharging the
batteries.
The proprietary ErockIT electronics controls the motor: The faster one peddles, the stronger rotates the 12 hp DC motor. The high
torque of the electric motor is fully available from the very ?rst rotation and enables a spectacular acceleration.
