As title.... I'm in Leeds.

I think my options are: Evans(a few to choose from), leisure lakes (crossgates),
All terrain cycles in whetherby, cycle tech in wakey, or maybe York cycle works in, er, York.

I'd really like to have a go on one before I buy one. So one with good stock or being able to order stuff in is good.

The closest to me is leisure lakes. They're not taking calls due to covid and haven't returned my email.

So, of the other options, who is good?

It's an ebike so I want a local dealer to shout at when it breaks

I got my Trek from Wheelbase in Stavely. Good guys and were a pleasure to deal with.

It's about a 1 hour 40 min drive for me, but I don't mind travelling.

All Terrain at Saltaire - you can have a spin around the car park there

Chevin Cycles in Otley?

Evans at Glasshoughton - big car park but usually full of...cars.
All Terrain is a good shout as there's a large paved area out front which isn't a carpark.

Trek warranty and support can be sought from any Trek dealer, as I recently found - a minor niggle. I don't know whether other large manufacturers offer this..?

Good luck in finding anywhere with stock; bought my Trek a couple of months or so ago and I think it was the last one available in the galaxy...

Perhaps they don't want to be "shouted at". 😉

Seriously though I doubt you'll find anywhere has much/any stock so you will probably need to buy from somewhere remote. You might be lucky if you are XXL or XXS but most websites show no stock and when they do show stock it's only because it's out of date or available to pre-order.

They're all good shops to be honest. I like Evans a lot, and York Cycle Works is a very pleasant place to be but their range of MTBs (if that's what you're after) is tiny.

Bear in mind a lot of shops will have stopped test rides- I was at Edinburgh Bike Coop this week and they had a sign saying as such in the window.

Wheelbase ? Have a look in Staveley but buy / get support in the smaller Ilkley shop.
There is also Chevin Cycles in Otley (and Skipton) but I've no significant experience with them.

There’s a Trek concept shop (Trek Fox Valley) just North of Sheffield. Might be worth contacting them regarding demos etc.

Pop along to see James at the Bike Garage in The Hope Valley. He has a Trek Hire/Demo fleet and has a huge knowledge on the trails in the area. He’ll sort you out with a loop.

Get a Peak ride in whilst demo’ing?

Edit - just noticed the ebike bit too. James has a few in and sorts the local ebikers (most on a trek!) out well. Noticed recently he’d just dealt with an old warranty claim super fast. He’d be my first port of call. Nice guy who also does a lot for the local riding community. Check his Instagram account out for ebike/trek stuff 👍

I’ve just bought a Trek ebike and got 30% off. Not exactly local but as above, Trek’s warranty is good. Bike shop in Madrid, a man in a van is bringing it over.

Thanks, yes chevin is a good shout actually. I'll give them a ring later. Good to know all dealers will deal with claims. The trek warranty is one reason for wanting a trek rather than other options.

Wheelbase also have shops in Yorkshire, see ilkley , no idea about stock, but at least local-ish.

If you know what you want blazingbikes while not local, there service has been great! I got mine weekend of the first lockdown, was delivered within 24hrs, they deliver across the U.K. I think it’s the only trek dealer that does this.

Obv it’s a bit far for a warranty issue, but worth a day trip surely??

You’re buying a bike from one of the bike manufacturers. I’m not an expert but my view is buy it from a local dealer. The prices don’t vary much and the difference would be lost in time and fuel travelling for a lower price.

If you are worried about warranty issues the local dealer is probably able to help with a Trek bought anywhere, but you will be more likely to get a more friendly service if they made some money on the initial sale.

I got a road bike from the Evans near Leeds train station and they were a good bunch. All Terrain at Saltaire get the thumbs up too.

Chevin at Otley/Skipton/Harrogate are worth a try although I don't really like the vibe in the Skipton one.
