Read a post on here about Altura Attacks, don't seem to last very long which is not good! Looking at Fox Ranger (cyclestore @ £44.99) but would like opinions!!
What is the short of choice these days?

Endura Singletrack FTW

Attacks are good, but are for wet riding really. No longevity issues for me.

Endura Humvee's, Awesome shorts, really comfy all day, look good, loads of vents and pockets with the "clip" in lycra shorts with gel bits to keep the man sausage nice and comfy.

If you're going to buy Humvees, before you wear them turn the outer short inside out and check the quality of the stitching to make sure the overlaps were aligned properly before stitching.
If you manage to get some that have been put together properly then they're great shorts, personal experience says avoid them.

I think this is slightly unfair, I've been using my (replacement - zip broke and they were replaced without question) ones all winter without issue. Admittedly I've ripped them falling off and glued the tear back up with superglue. Any 'thin' waterproof material is going to be fragile, no matter who makes it. Also the 18month warrenty is pretty damned reasonable.

Very happy with anything from Sombrio, just seems a bit more substantial than Altura et al.
As far as Endura go I prefer the Singletrack as it's a bit more robust and better in a shower.

Endura hummvees and singletracks are great

My new faves are mavic notch, really light and tough. Quite a loose fit.

Wet weather altura attacks are the best, but need the braces.

Humvee's outer layer is great, but the lycra inner is pants IMO - stitching comes undone within a couple of rides and the chamois is pretty average too.

enduras blow goats IMO. ripped the arse seem out of another pair of singletracks last week, and the comedy belts they supply are adornments purely for aesthetic reasons.
avoid.
gore are very nice.
