I've been toying with the idea for a while now and I have finally convinced myself to look on ebay for a frame. What I can't make my mind up on is what to go for. I am 6'3" and want something that wont feel tiny on me.

Any suggestions?

I'm 6'4", have ridden and raced a few bikes in my time.

Intense in large is ok, L or XL giants, 17" (the longer/larger size) of 223 is ok. Large santa cruz are decent.

I'd not buy a DH bike on ebay though, I'd want to give it a good look over first in person.

Depends on budget, but £1500 - £2k should secure something reasonable, try Canyon / YT / other online retailers - I'm 6ft and my large Scott Voltage took a bit of getting used to as it felt tiny. Having ridden it for a couple of tears, with my ar*e hanging off the back it now feels the right size.....

Flatout cycles regularly have bargains on 2nd hand dh frames. Decent people to deal with too

Cheers all. I have had my eye on the YT Tues as its a lovely looking bike and did contemplate the Canyon. I came to the conclusion a frame only would be the most sensible option as I have a garage full of bits that could happily live on a DH frame.

You know the rear hub and BB are wider on most DH frames?

Orange 224 might be an exception - and very well regarded too - if you were wanting to use exisitng wheels. The 17" is quite long.

depending where you are head down a local race and have a look at whats about (try not to look like a thieving scrote) there tend to be a few 2nd had things chained to tents too.

If this was bigger..

I'm your height. I bought a YT Tues last year, 605mm TT, feels rather compact. The newer ones are longer though (3mm).

What chakaping said!

Tbh, this would sound barking, but, unless you feel like your heading up to Fort Bill anytime soon, just get a long travel 650/29er.

Wouldn't be saying that if it was 3mm elsewhere!

Glen Coe and Fort Bill are my local tracks. I frighten the willies out of myself on the coe downhill track on my mega often enough as is

Ah, lucky dude! It's just that I don't exactly feel that mine is justified for the tracks I take it on.

My brother has an old 223/4? Frame he's looking to let go for peanuts, plus might have parts you need for the build. Drop me an email if your interested and I'll put you in touch.

If I had somewhere with a chairlift then I'd get myself another DH bike almost instantly. I got fed up with pushing them up hills.
