[Closed] I think I just broke Rule No. 1

[#10690035]

Last night. NCN route and walking thoroughfare in Dunblane.
Audi TT parked all but blocking the entrance to the route with two ladies walking away carrying bottles of bubbly. Parking spaces about a car length away on other side of road.

It's an area often with daft parking due to it being park entrance.

I commented there was parking available and bikes would now be squeezing past shiny car.

Reply was 'we are only going to be a few minutes'.

As I walked away I thought it would make a good 'I park like a fool' picture, NCN sign and all. So I took picture.

Cue woman running after me to say her friend had just had an operation and needed help carrying the bottles into nearby flats/home. I suggested that dropping her was good, but perhaps car not blocking road and driver could still carry the bottles...

One of those daft ones where maybe I shouldn't have said anything - I'm not into upsetting folk. Equally, car was on pavement and blocking the way.

Rule No.1?

I don't think you did anything wrong.

If I'd had time on my hands I'd have hung round and after 10 minutes knocked on the door of the house they'd gone into sayign 'you've had a few minutes, now move the car'.

I wonder if more people were happy to confront idiocy whether it would improve the world or just end up in more fights and unhappiness?

I was reading that and waiting for "so I ran the end of my brake lever along the full length of her car, just to teach her a lesson" disappointing.

Don't think you broke rule 1.

They were just being entitled and inconsiderate, regardless of any op they shouldn't be blocking a bike facility. There's nothing allowing cars to block cycle lanes, I was hoping you'd got shaving gel or something equally removable and sprayed le coque spurtif on their car.

The latter, it would be like a social media overspill into real life. More stabbings on trains and road rage style killings would ensue.

If someone else breaks Rule No. 1 first then you get some leeway. Move on.

Rules 3 and 4 always seemed like the important ones to me.

Third rule of Fight Club: Someone yells "Stop!", goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.
Fourth rule: Only two guys to a fight.

It turns out shaving gel/foam can cut through the lacquer and leave a permanent reminder of what was sprayed... Guess how I know...

They started it. If they had a valid reason to park badly then there is no real harm done so it doesn't matter, if they didn't then its worth* pointing it out. In this case I'd say they were just being a bit selfish if there was adequate parking close by. I suspect just thoughtlessness as a motive, not really understanding the harm done

*In my more militant youth I used to enjoy a good barney with bad drivers. These days it seems to just make me feel worse so I tend to avoid it.

Did the Hebridean Way last week.

Was shocked at how bad the driving was.

With the exception of one, every single Audi driver that passed me gave me a punishment pass and/or performed a really bad overtaking move. They are consistent at least
