[#12282943]

Hello, I've been fairly quiet in here for a while but recently starting reading threads now and again.

I am sort of on my winter holidays living in the van we built over lockdown last year/also scouting for trails. Looking at trails to guide some trips in the South East corner of France / the first part of Liguria, Italy. Basically anywhere from Nice -> Sanremo.

Anyway, I watch quite a few videos on all the various mountain bike websites and always feel a bit uninspired by all of the shredits and pros riding bike parks, it is all a bit unrelatable. I mostly like to watch videos with a bit of a story, you know like someone going somewhere or out on an adventure. I quite like the Joey Schusler, Yeti videos for something a bit spectacular but also the Dudes of Hazard videos are fantastic as there's usually some sort of storyline element to it. So of anyone has any recommendations for any similar videos or series like these I'd like to hear it.

For that reason I decided I would have a go at making some of my own, all very amateur but I thought some people might be interested in some of the random trailhunting expeditions I get up to down here. Here is my first attempt and I'm currently putting together another from the 40km/1800m ride above Monaco yesterday!

Let me know if you enjoy it and perhaps I'll make a couple more!

I loved that. Great riding, properly sketchy in places and nice to have some commentary and context. Props to the dog 🐕 too. Steady on her toes and an in-built satnav to boot!

made my palms sweat! I'd've pushed in a few places for sure.

(The tech climb resurfaced a memory of failing on similar years ago in the Montaigne Noire when I rode clipped in. Slow motion topple, cleat had come loose so couldn't unclip, slow motion fall and teetered arse over the brink for a long 30 secs before scrambling free. Would've been a while before I'd been found.)

Really enjoyed that vid. Some of them cliffs looked a bit dodgy though. Most unbelievable was your dogs take off speed - that is one fast 4 legged friend.

Nice, thanks guys. Perhaps will make a few more then.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be going back to that trail in a hurry. I like to just scan the map a whole and plan a route that seems to flow in terms of ups and downs and a but of a circuit, rather than pick the best looking trail on Trailforks. It fit in to the ride but it's not a good riding trail! The rest was brilliant though.

I had a big ride of about 40km around Monaco, Gorbio and Peille the other day which I recorded. A bit less hairy scary but I ended up back after dark!

Doggo is called Nora, she's a failed working collie from near my parents in Northumberland. She's a fantastic trail dog! Insanely fast, goes all day and as someone mentioned she seems to have an inbuilt GPS, always manages to find the right track. Often when the way isn't clear where to go I just follow the dog and she's usually got her nose on the right track.
