[#2887910]

There they were in the distance. A young couple on bikes and their boy on a bike. They stopped at a busy road and got the boy to walk over the crossing back onto the cycle path, quite sensible as there were no lights.

As they neared, I thought the man looked strange, then I realised that from his front he had a baby hanging there in one of those front carriers. cycling along with the bairn swinging like a pendulum

Small baby so probably fairly new.

How does the STW hive feel about that then?

OTB would be interesting

Small baby hanging from one of those front chest baby carriers, swinging away, whilst dad rode along.

There is no way I would cycle with a little one in a sling/carrier.

was he riding a bike as well or just walking?
I cant recall the last time I fell off a bike just riding along never mind at keeping up with a 4 year old pace if i am honest..I may not have used my clip in pedals and lowered the seat dont think it is that dangerous as likely as falling over but I would not be doing it
PS Helmets all of them, none of them or some of them we need to know ๐Ÿ˜‰

no helmets - didnt seem the safest idea though, doesn't take much for something silly like a slip on the pedals to bang baby off stem

my concern (i sound like i actually care, haha) would be that the child's head wasn't supported.

my friend used to ride with his 8 month old on his back in one of those Deuter back pack things that you drop the little um into. the kid used to love it. they eventually progressed to riding down flights of stairs. but this was once the little um could walk.

oh, and both parties were wearing a helmet.

Normal practice in many places. My sister carried both my nephews around in a sling when they were tiny. If you would walk with them or take them in a car why not on a bike? Risk levels are similar

Postierich - you took a baby for a ride on a singlespeed rigid? Now that's outrageous. Talk about setting them up to fail...
