[#823558]

off to my brothers stag weekend on Friday, we're staying at Carsington Water just south of the Peak district park. To squeeze some riding into the weekend I'm thinking of getting the train over to Sheffield (coming from Lincoln) and riding down from there. I want to do as much of it as possible off road, I know I can go across the moor(can't recall the name)out of Sheffield in the direction of Hathersage but after that I have no experience of the area, any suggestions for choice bits of trail to build into the journey? Is it worth going out of my way to get onto the penine way bridleway? I'll be going back the same way on the monday so if any bits are better ridden in a particular direction that'd be good to know.

Catch a train from Sheff to Edale or Hope and start there. You pretty much cant go wrong.

My usual loop is Edale, Barber Booth, Jacobs Ladder(up!), Coldwell Clough, The Roych, Rushup Edge and back. This works out about 15 miles- whicj is plenty for my supremely unfit self.

This route has a bit of Penine Bridleway in it.

Sheffield what a place to live for an MTBer!

yep, have done some loops similar, jacobs ladder and rushup edge are great, awesome riding but I need to be heading south to end up at Carsington so need good bits of trail on the way down (south peak district OS map east sheet) I can pretty much plot a straight north to south route taking in as much bridleway as possible but if there's any particularly good bits I don't mind going a bit out of the way. Might still add in the Hope/Edale bit but it's what to do once I'm moving south?
