[#1535186]

I've just taken 2.0 Mud X off and replaced with 2.2 Jones ACX after 2 weeks of thinking that I really ought to. Two long dusty rides later and I can't tell the difference. However, the Mud X were vastly better in the wet. Am I going to regret the swap when we next have rain? Have I simply bought a bit of longevity with the harder compound? I should say that I probably have <500yards of road in my ride, the rest is offroad. What have I gained after a good hour's tugging, swearing, levering and shouting to get them on the rims?

And here's another thing. Directional tyres. If I put them on backwards, will I slow down faster?
Maybe not.

Mind you, I was proud of my efforts when I finished because I'd swear that the tyres were a good 3 inches less in diameter than the front wheel before I put them on.

I hate directional tyres. I always put them on the wrong way round after a puncture trail side and only notice after i have pumped then back up. It feels wrong cycling them with like that. Its like that feeling you get when you notice you have odd socks on. Totally doesn't matter until you notice and then you can't forget!

are you replacing a tube?, why do you take the tyre completely off?

Its easier to get my hands in to the tyre to find whatever went through it that way for me.

Your not the first bloke to think that you might as well run a mud tyre all year, when they are worn down a bit theyre as fast as most allrounder tyres, but still give you the edge if it gets sloppy again.

I am a tyre swapper myeslf, I cant wait to get my SB8's on as it happens, but thats where it really goes wrong if the weather changes..

Why are Bonty tyres always such a bad fit? 😕

try using soapy water when you fit them i was amazed how much easier it was.it makes a massive diference if you rub it onto the tyre

why do people buy bonty tyres if they're such a nightmare to put on?

Just get a different make that are almost identical and can be swapped by the bloke in the Mr. muscle advert in 5 minutes.
