I need some quick info as possibly going to buy a bike tomorrow.

I need to know the difference between the Fox RP-2 (with DRCV) and Fox shock with CTD?

Same goes for forks, whats the difference between the Fox 32 Float RL and a similar Fox fork with CTD?

Basically I've been on the lookout for a 2013 Trek Fuel with CTD but have got fed up with waiting for the right one to come along and have found a 2012 Trek Fuel which has DCRV but but no CTD. I'll be using the bike for a complete mixture of trails up & down which is originally why I wanted CTD.

As I understand it the drcv uses 2 air chambers but will only go into the second on big hits. I believe it was developed to be better over small bumps. It was a trek only thing tho. i had a drcv shock and fork on a 2013 trek fuel ex and quite liked em tbh.

And i think the rp-2 had a pro pedal and fully open setting and the ctd has 3 settings climb trail and descend

I had an RP23 and now have a CTD Shock. Both quite similar and both good enough for me. The Pro Pedal worked like a two stage CTD.

As for the forks.... People grumble about the 2013 CTD's but my 2014's are good. More important to me would be if one fork had the basic open bath damper compared to the sealed FIT one. If so, go for the FIT.

In the grand scheme of things either option will be fine and there won't be much performance difference between the 2012 and 2013 gear.

I think 2013 was the year fox introduced CTD in an attempt to make suspension more user friendly. I have the 2012 stuff which is fine, as mentioned the DRCV was specifically for trek, so should be fine for a trek, my concern would always be spares or replacements down the line for custom components. That said Trek arent exactly going to disappear overnight. Rp2 has propedal on/off switch the rp23 has the same but 3 settings for the "OFF" position allowed a degree of personal preference. The on off you can do on the move the 3 subsettings you do need to be stationary although no tools required. I set mine and forget it, i hadvan rp2 before which required no thought perfect for me!

Hope that helps no experience of CTD though
