I dropped my garmin 800 and snapped off one of the lugs at the back that holds it in place on the barfly. I now have to use a elastic band to stop it flying off when riding over bumps etc.
Does anyone know if this can be repaired i.e. new case and if Garmin do this directly?

IME they didn't do specific repairs and supplied me with a refurb unit, which was as new. Download your data before sending the 800 in

Alternatively there is a DIY option here: https://www.dogearsgps.com/ as long as you are handy (and careful) with the superglue.

I did it on a previous unit and it worked great, and pretty sure I got the recommendation off here so I'm not the only one.

But you may prefer a refurb.

Refurb is an option. Should be about £70 but for that you get an as new unit so the battery will work better etc. which is a bonus.

I just bought one of these but not had a chance to fit it yet

Didn't like the screw idea so these are just glued on.

I also use a silicone case with a hole punched in it. This lets me attach a lanyard. Saved my garmin on a couple of occasions. Gives piece of mind that I won't lose it.

I looked at the RaceWare one too but preferred the solid metal of the DogsEars one, plus it looked nicer IMO. I get the impression that one of the reasons for the tabs breaking in the first place is that the material in the mount is tougher than (or equitable to) the material in the tab so the tab breaks first. I figured if the tab was unquestionably stronger ie. metal (and I used the screws with impunity!) then I'd be safest. Have to say the first few rides I was nervous about it holding but after that I had zero qualms. YMMV I am sure there are plenty of happy RaceWare users...

ordered a dogears unit from the USA...around 20 dollars I think.

not sure on dleivery but hopefully will do the job...like the look of the raceware glue on unit too so if the dogears does not fit/work will try that.
