......well according to that "think twice about buying" thread 😆

Specialized - check
Pace Forks - check
Hope Brakes - check
Crank Bros pedals - check
Maverick Speedball post - check
Race Face cranks & BB - check

😯

I must be the lucky one that got all the bits that work!

Anyone else got bikes that, just, well......work?

...hmmmm "think twice about buying" thread? I haven't come across that one yet, but for what it's worth....

I've been running Pace forks, Crank Bros pedals and Race Face cranks and BB for a year or so. Love them all! Haven't had any major problems with them (ok, I have had the egg-beater-pedal-bearing-explosion-experience, but 2pure sorted that for me for free). The Pace forks appreciate regular greasing (as do the pedals) and the cranks, pedals and forks look ace.

For every negative comment on STW there'll be at least another person with a positive experience, who's just to afraid to stick their neck out in front of the baying masses. Ride with whatever you like and whatever makes you happy. Ignore the rest, it's just noise. 🙂

Some products need regular care, cleaning and attention, while others don't. But things tend to fail when they're negelcted, some things more redily than others. I learnt that with the egg beaters, no problems since. I just don't seem to mind cleaning and greasing stuff after every ride, it's all part of the experience.

No way would I use anything that needs that level of care and maintenance to keep it going.

...see what happens the moment you stick your head out in front of the baying masses? 😉

Each to their own I suppose, but I quite like the whole ride...nurture... ride... nurture...ride experience, there's a balance there, a kind of symbiosis if you like.

Rider and machine, mud and puddles, tea and cake.

It's a nice life...

right there with you no_eyed_dear but i've done that and my maverick seatpost and crank bros pedals have long since bit the dust, well the seatpost is still going but needs parts that have to be ordered from the states for ridiculous prices.

i enjoy cleaning and maintaining my bike, but these are a mixture of poor products and poor company's

I run hope brakes, raceface cranks, crank brothers pedals on virtually all my bikes.

Hope brakes are simple to set up, easy to manitain, very powerful, great modulation, one of the lightest and super pimp. More than you can say about any other brake.

Raceface cranks great value for money, pimp, super strong yet light, easy to fit and fix on the trail, again what more can you say. Racface BB are not bad its just that people fit them wrong, I use hope and CK BB's just because I like to pimp. But RF BB's last several years if fitted currently so what the hell is wrong with that.
the only cranks shimano have made recently that are any good are saints but even then RF make a better option.

Crank brothers pedals, I use the clips and frankly there is no better SPD pedals on the market. Shimano's are junk, two way entry, heavy why use them.

Now you know why you've been getting all those dirty looks.

I've got four sets of Crank Bros pedals and they've never given me any trouble, had 'em for years. Stick a bit of grease in every now and then and they're fine! However everyrthing else that CB have ever made is either crap, overpriced or usually both.

Also Race Face cranks... currently using two sets and again, no bother - in fact a damn sight better than some of the alternatives (like Truvativ...). Look after kit and it usually looks after you/your wallet...
