My 8 y/o has asked about getting a hydration pack for when we ride. Thought it might be nice to get him one and put a couple of tools in there too. Any one got any recommendations?

the skeeter is just a hydration pack with no other pockets, probably better with a mini mule if you want extra carring capacity it has a media pocket on the top, zip pocket on the front with a divider in and a stretch mesh pocket that you could stuff a jacket into.
