Do you think Hunt race wheels @ 24cm internal would be a bit narrow to run 2.5inch tyres? On their website they recommend up to 2.5inch, what impact might a very narrow rim have on general trail riding? likely to get tyre squirm on corners etc?

At 2.5" I'd question the tyre weight and whether it was worth trying to save a few grams on the wheels.
There were days when we all run 23mm internal rims without too much bother
But tyres have adapted for 30mm rims thankfully
If it's light duty trail riding without a rock in sight you'll be fine
But there soft very soft and do dent easily so run in insert or strong tyre which kind of goes against the point of light wheels but its an option
I'm running 14mm internal track rims with 2" tyres, a bit of a rounded profile but I've not died. Yet.
I have 2.6 specialized butcher/ purgatory on my hunt xc.
1600 miles
Spoke pulled through rim- replaced under warranty
Freehub died- replaced under warranty
The rear axel has broken an it's ( out of warranty) replacement is due to arrive this week.
One big dig on the rear rim.
Mostly ridden on smooth sandy and rooty trails near to home. Occasionally in the peaks and bike packing.
Are we saying the Hunt XC wheels are weak? Sounds like "tall-martin" has had quite a few issues?
A mate has Hunt wheels (not XC) on his well looked after SolarisMax
Even the LBS struggled to true them as the alloy nipples had seized
@coconut mate there garbage. The only reason they get glowing reviews is the half page adverts that they sign upto .

OP have a look at Silt wheels. They’re a bit wider and there’s several of us on here using them without issue.
Look for some DT Swiss xm421's. 25mm internal and I've found them tough and ok with a forekaster 2.6. Ryan Builds Wheels are worth a look. More than hunt but will save you in the long run.
The XM 421's are DT's 25mm trail/all mountain rim, they do a lighter 'XR' version called the XR391 for XC race.
Why are you looking at lightweight XC wheels and then planning on bunging a sodding great big trail tyre on them?
As above, I've got 2 sets of the Silt XC alloys and they're ace.
I think Hunt XC may well be a bit soft. I've a pair of Fulcrum Red Passion 3 from circa 2018 which weigh about the same as the Hunt XC Race & they've been flawless apart from new bearings when needed. I'd buy another pair but sadly you can no longer get them!
