Hi All,
A mate of mine who lives in Almondbury, Huddersfield has recently got in to Mountain biking, but doesn't know were to ride except for his local road stuff. He's getting bored of having to put the bike in the car and drive over to me every time! Can any one offer advise on good, single track, off road stuff close to where he lives?
Thanks.

His best option is to go onto the Huddersfield Star Wheelers forum which has a list of mountainbike rides every Saturday morning at 10.00 starting from various points all within 5 miles of Almondbury. If he gets on with this, he can join for a few quid and go out every week.

Hello,

Have a look at Devils Rock Riders via facebook & vimeo!
They are based in Hudds and ride out most weekends & wednesday nights!

regards
Steve

Having seen the Devils Rock video and as a recent convert, the Star Wheelers will be more up his street. Rides are usually 15-20 miles on decent trails, group size is about 15 and pace is sedate. Nothing likely to kill him.

Thanks Pistonbroke!

Your advise is probably right!

He is young and fit, but is new to the sport and would break something! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Digley Reservoir route from the Dark Peak guidebook, various bits near Marsden etc. Or for something a bit different Hopton Woods between Kirkheaton and Mirfield is worth a look. Fairly easy to get there from Almondbury, may even be a semi offroad route across. Quite a few variations you can do there.
