In a nutshell, this guy is selling a rear hub for 999 euros and he is keen to explain that the feature which makes it special is that he's put the hub bearings out near the dropout.
Just like Shimano then?
Eh? Says man...
Yes, just like Shimano....
not really like shimano though because the hub body runs all the way through.
still pointless expensive wierdness though.
current systems are 'prone to failure' apparently.....except not really, pretty reliable all things considered. Nothing like fixing a problem that doesnt exist.
Yeah he is forced to change his argument, binning much of his marketing BS USP, and admit his research is flawed in not realizing shimano freehubs are load bearing.
Also suggesting the multiple standards we've had for BBs is all for good is swallowing manufacturer guff.
Nothing like fixing a problem that doesnt exist
I believe in the bike industry that's usually called innovation ๐
If anyone actually buys one of these il build it and do the labour and price match any spokes and rims for free just so i can have a look and scrutinise the quality of the design and materials ๐ฏ
Only hub iv'e ever have fail on me was an old hope fatso ti hub the flange cracked and exploded but it was 8 years old and abused many worn out nut just though normal wear and tear so why bother changing something that ain't broke
I like the magnets instead of springs, and the integration of the disc mount into the hub shell.
At least they are trying something different.
voila
20 years ago we called that a freewheel
I'm very much a proponent of discs on all bikes
Well there goes any credibility he might have had IMHO (though to be fair he was already struggling by that point).
the integration of the disc mount into the hub shell
It's not really all that radical though is it? Just a different way of machining the disk mount - I mean you could make a disk mount like that on pretty much any disk hub, though I doubt it's actually all that beneficial.
I'm not saying it is radical, just not seen it before, clean design and potentially weight saving.
