Im in the process of getting some new new wheels built for my bike.

I've already got my spokes and rim but don't have a clue about what type of hub to go for.

I've got Mavic 717 rims and some standard DT swiss spokes, if that impacts on the hubs i can use.

On my budget, i reckon I have about £100 - £130 to get both hubs.

Any suggestions as to what the best options are for this price bracket?

you're making life very difficult for yourself if you're determined to use spokes youve already bought.

You will need put every candidate hub into a spoke calculator with the rim ERD to find which ones might work with your spokes (and Im betting none do 100%).

Pick hubs first, then rims, then calculate spokes needed to lace them in a pattern of your choosing.

In which case there will be the usual Hope fanboys in in a minute to praise the stirling British customer services when the axle breaks 🙂

Ive had no problems with superstarcomponents hubs and have also always hankered after some goldtec ones (see www.betd.co.uk)

Nukeproof are doing a nice looking range from too (Generators). (on CRC)

Halo hubs are good VFM - 6 drive rear on sale at CRC

Halo also do the same 120 ratchet rear as Superstarcomponents that I have.

Dont buy XT M775, i'm really disappointed with the quality of them, nothing like the older ones. I'd probably buy the mega ratchety Halo in hindsight.
