Just been out for a ride round the coast - unbelievably windy!
On road bikes and got literally stopped by a sudden blast of wind as I rounded the headland of the Orme ... on the descent as well. Bit of a fight at times to stay upright and go in the right direction, but fantastic fun ๐ The old ladies in the cafe looked at me as if I was completely bonkers when I headed back out to carry on riding - but admittedly it was a bit of a struggle to get back on my bike!
Does riding in really windy weather give anyone else the giggles?
I quite enjoy it as long as there's not much traffic around - I did have to call for a lift once though when I literally couldn't pedal up the road climb out of Brecon in gale force winds
The strength of the wind is directly proprtional to the amount of swear words that leave my mouth whilst riding.
My commute involves a regular head wind which miraculously changes direction by 180 degrees by the time I go home.
Don't all riders have that? I was blown to a standstill on a very very steep downhill section on the SDW, from 20-30mph to a complete stop. Incredible force. My commute involves a regular head wind which miraculously changes direction by 180 degrees by the time I go home.
I pretty much got blown off my bike the other night in Ashton Court... well, wind blew me off course on the 'rocky' climb, lost balance, bad elbow / ground interface issue. Swore lots.
Yeah but Sue you weigh nowt, a gentle breeze would have you over. ๐
I hate wind when it's against me.
Sue; member coming back along the coastal path with that tail-wind? ๐ฎ
20+mph, without pedalling. Accelerating, going uphill. T'was like having a motor! ๐
BBC programme featuring Llandudno and the Orme btw:

Erm.... ๐
Ah yes - the commuting headwind that changes direction so you can 'enjoy' it again on the way home. Not so good when you have to get somewhere, but when I'm out for fun, the wind can be pretty exhilarating.
FuzzyWuzzy - that's a seriously strong wind if you reach the point of needing vehicular back-up!
Elf - I did think I should have eaten more cake at the cafe for extra balast ๐ Kev didn't get completely stopped ... maybe he eats more pie than me ...
And that 'being blown uphill without pedalling' ride was ace ๐
