I accidentally rode 820 for a while on a new bike because I assumed they were 800. That was also fine.
760 on both bikes.
I do hold them right at the ends to the point where I prefer grips with no outer locking collar.
790 or 800
760 on both the HT and FS bikes.
Currently on about 780mm, I'm going to cut them down back to 760mm like my old bars though. I do like the slightly more stretched out/open feel of wider but I feel a bit clumsy on them through tighter trails.

760 on the XC bike (with bar ends) the do-it-all hardail and the fattie. 780 on the trail bike and the jump bike. 800 on the big bike

Last year had 800, 800 then swapped a couple of bikes and had 800, 780, 780. Changed bikes again and back to 800, 800 but must admit 780 felt decent off road so may cut mine down.
780. I liked 800 but seemed to clip way more trees. 10mm off per side seems to make a huge difference!
800 and 800 and 800.. they totally suit me, but then I was 760mm fan back when that was the widest you could get.
780. Any wider and it would be too annoying getting them in and out of the cellar. 780 is already a bit annoying.
760 on hard tail, 780 f.s.
760-780mm, but caveat that with me using single-clamp lock-ons that add a few mm each side.
Bar width comparison also needs rider height/dimension, non? I'm 187cm with wide shoulders and found 800mm too much.

Had progressively got wider bars and shorter stems over the years in line with trends but have now toned it back and found the happy medium at 760.

800, feels good but I do clip trees on occasion
760mm did have wider, find it easier to control manuals & jumping with them a bit narrower.

Have tried going back to 760 again recently and it did reduce tree clipping a bit on some local trails, but I also felt a bit less in control on the tighter turns.
Tried 800 briefly but it just felt unnatural to me, so trimmed down to 780 very quickly.
Oh, and 42cm on road bikes… 40 is too cramped, 44 induces shoulder pain after a while and feels odd.
I got these Sweepers on hardtail which feel perfect
31.8mm clamp so 780mm width, according to that page.
I think the Moterra's bars are 780 too.

how are people measuring? Grips that cover the ends of the bars (rather than being open and having a separate little plug) tend to add about 10mm to either side. With grips mine are currently 800 but it's an 800 bar with 10mm of each end.
740 for me, but with DMR Deathgrips so closer to 750 total grip length end to end?

I have super narrow 740 on all bikes, and don't intend changing them.
Once upon a time the guys I ride with joked about how wide my bars were, when I was having to take evasive action avoiding trees each side of the trail. Now they joke about how skinny and XC they are, and I can only assume someone's been along the same trail in the meantime with a saw.
780mm plus a bit each end for grips, so about 790mm, on both the HT & FS.
I was just remembering the other day, I got a set of 762s when they were pretty new and everyone said how ridiculous they looked. Then on the first or second ride I clipped a tree and absolutely ate shit on an easy trail at glentress, declared them to be stupid and took them off and went back to 710, the one true bar size.
All my bikes are 760 now. I guess it's that 2mm that makes the difference
I rode around on 800s for a few years thinking super wide was best.
A few weeks ago I took them down to 760 on a whim wondering if my tingling fingers were due to being a bit stretched laterally.
Much nicer, no tingly fingers.
I thought I was fairly broad shouldered, turns out I wasn't so beefcake as I thought.
Road and gravel bikes are 44 and 40 (flared) CTC respectively. Road bike is too wide.
Current fashion be damned, 460mm on the roadie, and 720mm on the XC bike.
711 on the hardtail, 740 on the XC FS. tried 760 and just kept clipping trees. 740 is a bit tight sometimes too. 800's feel a bit wrong, but I guess I may need to reduce my stem length to get a similar stretch.

Had to change the road bike when I got it, they'd supplied it with cheapo alloy 460mm (presumably because it's an XL frame and probably also because they assumed there was no point putting anything nice on it as the buyer would almost certainly change it anyway).
800 on my hardtail, 780 on my full suss.
760 on all 3 bikes, 10, 20 and 30mm rise tho
670mm. On-one Mary bars. Comfortable for me, of course, everyone says I must have a shopping bag on the bars normally. Use whatever suits you. Straight bars don't suit me.
760 on all three. There's an equation you can use to determine the (supposedly!) ideal bar width based on the length of your arms. I was amazed when it suggested 760 for me when that was the figure I'd ended up with anyway by shifting grips about and cutting bars down.

Dunno. But risers I cut to a bit narrower as my shoulders are wide, but not that wide. Mrs_oab, petite thing that she is, has similarly shoulderish plus a bit bars.
Road bike 460mm iirc, cos that is what it came with.
780 here. I bought a set of the 50mm rise renthals and didn’t realise at first that they were 820mm, then kept forgetting to cut them down before I rode and remembering half way around that they were too wide.
now cut to 780 and it’s transformed the bike. If I pull my finger out I might also cut the steerer and drop my stem a bit too, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves
I cut mine down to around 730mm from 780mm (on an FS MTB), I mostly ride road and gravel so 780 felt crazy wide like I was was stretching to keep the steering under control when on the flat or climbs. I rarely go fast enough downhill these days that I need the stability and control of wider bars. It's a one piece carbon bar/stem so hopefully I don't decide I need them wider in future...

Bollocks I might have made that mistake again. I have the same handlebar and just assumed it was 800mm.

Always used to run 780mm on both the HT and FS until recently. A hefty discount on some Renthal carbon bars at 760mm has now since converted me to 760mm on both bikes.
Did briefly have some 800mm on the FS when I bought it (unsure why Nukeproof thought in 2022 that a size medium needed 800mm!). They got taken off quick smart.
On the MTBs?
One is 750 the other is 780.
